OCR: Remember that a partitioning index does not need to be the primary key- Your random key may be the customer or product number if these are not sequentially assigned. You can partition by department or geographic location. You canuse a surrogate or artificial key, which will flip parts of a timestamp to create a random key. Make sure you are able to get back to the date! Create a partition table. If the key to the data is a particular date for a particular location, put it in a particular partition.
